ICONLOOP participated in ‘Transform Africa Summit’

Greetings from the ICONLOOP Team,

ICONLOOP was proud to take part in the Transform Africa Summit,’ Africa’s largest tech conference, held from May 14 to May 17 in Kigali, Rwanda. With the theme of “Boosting Africa’s Digital Economy,” the event was attended by various global tech companies such as Google, Facebook, Huawei, and Kaspersky. Also present were distinguished guests such as Paul Kagame, the President of Rwanda, and minister-level government officials from other African nations as well as Estonia and Japan. The event was a testament to the high level of global interest in the next-generation technology industry in Africa. ICONLOOP was the sole blockchain company joining the panel discussion and booth operations.

ICONLOOP, as a ‘Knowledge Partner’ of the ITU Smart Incubator Program, joined the panel discussion at the <Interoperability for Africa> session with Josh Choi, Director of Public Affairs, representing ICONLOOP. In April, ICONLOOP signed a Collaboration Arrangement with ITU (International Telecommunication Union) to establish a high-level framework of cooperation in the area of smart incubator program development. ICONLOOP plans to support the growth and expansion of startup businesses in African developing nations through pilot projects that focus on three core pillars: technical know-how, business development, and outreach/networking.

In a rapidly changing environment where free trade agreements and visa-free agreements amongst African nations are being newly formed, there are numerous areas where the concept of interoperability can add value. Blockchain can be the technological foundation on which a secure and reliable infrastructure for data exchange and asset trading can be conducted. Josh Choi especially highlighted the socio-economic effects that blockchain could bring in three areas: digital identification, the supply chain, and microfinance.

Aside from the main panel discussions, ICONLOOP met with Africa-based tech startups, provided guidance in blockchain applications, and discussed possibilities in DApp developments. ICONLOOP will continue to pave the way for further innovation within the African blockchain industry, so please look forward to our continued progress!

Thank you,
