ICONLOOP Participates in the ‘2019 World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) Business Information Session’

ICONLOOP and WeGO will jointly run the ‘2019 Feasibility Study Program

Greetings from the ICONLOOP Team,

ICONLOOP, as a joint-business partner of WeGO, attended the ‘2019 World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) Business Information Session’ held at the Seoul City Hall on March 8th. The event, co-hosted by the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, was organized to discuss ways to cooperate with cities and corporate members of WeGO. More than 70 members from international organizations, such as the World Federation of the United Nations Associations (WFUNA), the ASEAN-Korea Centre as well as local governments including Seoul, Gangwon Province, Gyeongbuk Province, Sejong City, and APPIA Consortium, have participated in this event. (*APPIA: Consortium established by several companies to export Smart City cases and technologies to foreign countries)

The World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) is an international association that facilitates sustainable cities through cooperation between smart cities and eGovernments by utilizing ICT (Information Communication Technology). Founded in 2010, it currently has 157 members including local city governments, smart tech solution providers, and national and regional institutions. Seoul serves as the president city. ICONLOOP, as a corporate member of WeGO, participated in this session with a lecture from Josh Choi, Director of Public Affairs.

Josh Choi, Director of Public Affairs at ICONLOOP, joined the “Enterprise Presentation onSmart City Solutions”, and introduced loopchain use-cases and synergies between blockchain and smart cities. ICONLOOP, with partners in various industries, including the Seoul City Government, the Korea Customs Service, National Election Committee, AWS, and Kyobo Life Insurance, has been awarded with a prize in recognition of its contribution to the mass-adoption of blockchain technology. ICONLOOP is focused on building diverse blockchain communities, solving the oracle problem through the use of private blockchains, leading the expansion of the blockchain ecosystem, achieving interoperability, and building smart cities with blockchain.

Smart Sustainable City refers to initiatives that leverage the connectivity of digital technology to streamline the economy, improve quality of life, and enhance environmental sustainability initiatives leading to more prosperity across the city. There are numerous areas where blockchain technology could contribute to smart cities, such as Citizen IDvoting systemsdisease prediction servicescustoms clearance, and used car trading.

Accordingly, ICONLOOP and WeGO will cooperate on the ‘2019 Feasibility Study Program’. The program will evaluate the benefits of a smart city for selected WeGO city members, provide strategic consulting, and directly support ICT solutions through pilot projects. ICONLOOP will identify the needs of the cities and conduct PoCs on how to apply blockchain solutions. We expect these initiatives to expand the global adoption of ICONLOOP’s technology, and turn into an excellent opportunity to build an infrastructure linked with ICON networks. We will share specific business progress and a timeline in later announcements, so please look forward to it!

Thank you,

Hyperconnect the World
